KHS Class of 81 leads the way for Kewanee Schools Care Closet

Thanks to everyone who supported the campaign to raise funds for the new initiative called Kewanee Schools Care Closet.  The Class of 81 supported this cause in a big way, with over $2600 being raised by our classmates.  This also got things rolling in this great cause to enable teachers in all of the District #229 schools to supply much needed items for their school.  The initiative was started a few years back by District Superintendent Chris Sullens.  During the Foundations planning for his retirement party, he mentioned that he would like donations to the Care Closet in lieu of any gifts.  The Class of 81 lead gift got things rolling and the fund received many other donations from those in attendance. The fund now has enough funds to cover the budget for the entire school year and hopefully for some time into the future to meet the future needs of the program.

What a great 35th KHS Class of 81 Reunion !

(Friday, October 14th-Saturday, October 15th, 2016)

Our 35th reunion was attended by nearly 50 classmates either on Friday night at the Elks Club or on Saturday evening at Cernos.  A great time was had by all.  Many great stories were shared.  Several classmates were in attendance for their very first reunion, making catching up with those friends very special.   Some toured KHS and I am sure all would agree there have been many changes since 1981. A special thanks to everyone who helped make our reunion a great time !
